KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extends his condolences to the family of Public Bank founder and chairman emeritus Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow, who passed away on Monday (Dec 12) morning.
The Prime Minister said in a Facebook post that the late Teh had established Public Bank Bhd in 1965.
Anwar said the death of the Public Bank founder was a huge void to Teh's family, the banking sector and the country.
"My condolences to his family, and I hope they will remain strong over the loss of their loved one," he said.
Teh passed away peacefully at 10.20am on Monday at the age of 92.
Teh was born in Singapore on March 14, 1930, and he attended his formal primary and secondary education at the Anglo Chinese School in Singapore, a biography note on Public Bank's website said.
He has been married to Puan Seri Tay Sock Noy since 1956, and they have four children.
