Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Larry Sng has disregarded the mandate agreed upon at the party's annual general assembly to hand over the top post to president-designate Zuraida Kamaruddin, claimed deputy president Haniza Talha.
In a statement today, Haniza (above) said the party leaders reject Sng's leadership and called for the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to investigate Sng's legitimacy as party president.
"It is common knowledge that the leadership crisis that has occurred within PBM has not yet been resolved.
"The party has become precarious, and the leaders and members are confused when Sng turned his back on the agreement and mandate agreed upon during the AGM in October.
"Sng should’ve handed over his position to Zuraida as agreed by all PBM members at the assembly. He shouldn't manipulate the situation until it became a mess like this.
"His failure in managing the party is also evident when he recklessly used his position for his own benefit without thinking about the impact on PBM members," she said.
She added that prior to the 15th general election, Sng had threatened PBM’s leadership using the letter of appointment of candidates.
"After GE15, he used PBM to establish cooperation with other parties without first discussing with any party leader or member," alleged Haniza, who is also the Lembah Jaya state assemblyperson.
‘Sng acts for his personal interests’
Sng's immaturity was also reflected in his response on Dec 10 after he was not appointed to Anwar Ibrahim's government, she added.
Sng is PBM’s sole parliamentarian for the Julau seat.
"This clearly shows that he does not think about the wishes of the party members and only acts for his own personal interests," said Haniza.
"Sng used this party only as a stepping stone to gain influence and positions at the national level and does not directly display the values held by PBM for the development of all Malaysians.
"I and my fellow leaders completely reject his leadership as PBM president.
"We urge the ROS to investigate the legitimacy of his presidency.”
Haniza had previously insisted that Zuraida was PBM’s legitimate president after an announcement at the party’s annual general conference on Oct 7.
Sng, however, refuted this, saying he was still the president, which was later confirmed by the ROS.
Sng then suspended Zuraida and 12 supreme council members on Oct 28 for allegedly undermining the interest of the party and its leadership.
He also reportedly demanded Zuraida and those loyal to her to respond to the show-cause letter by Dec 26, failing which would result in Zuraida and several members - whose memberships are now suspended - being sacked immediately. - Mkini
