Terengganu flood victims to receive cash aid early next year, says MB

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu will distribute RM1,000 in cash aid to flood victims in the state early next year, menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said.

He said recipients would receive the aid either in January or February.

“It will take some time as we are monitoring the flood situation,” he told reporters in Kuala Terengganu today.

It was previously reported that the cash aid would be channelled to more than 10,000 households which were recently affected by the floods.

A sum of RM10,000, meanwhile, will be doled out to the next of kin of those who died in the floods.

Separately, Samsuri said the state government’s priority was to ensure that evacuees would be able to return to their respective homes, with clean-up work being carried out.

“We are focusing on ensuring the flood victims return home.

“The other needs are being reviewed by the village development and security committees in the respective districts.”
