Cops identify ‘ganja’ toothpaste sender

The package was sent to Rafizi Ramli’s office and had been addressed to him and the prime minister.

PETALING JAYA: Police have identified the person who sent a parcel containing a tube of toothpaste that claimed to contain cannabis leaf extract to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and economy minister Rafizi Ramli.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Kan said they will make an arrest after tracking down the whereabouts of the individual, Bernama reported.

“We sent the package to the lab and analysis showed that it did not contain any drug and is just toothpaste,” he was quoted as saying.

On March 14, Rafizi told reporters that he and Anwar had received a package containing the item.

“I don’t know (who sent it). It was sent to the office and I didn’t open it myself as it was addressed to the prime minister and myself,” he said.

Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said at the time that the parcel contained a tube of toothpaste bearing a cannabis leaf logo and the words “Happy Green” on it.

The sender, with an address in Indonesia, had bought the item through an online platform.

Kamarul said police raided the courier office following a report lodged by a government officer who received a phone call about the parcel. - FMT
