Misuse of power, leakages top PAC agenda — Mas Ermieyati

KUALA LUMPUR: Misuse of power, leakages and the misappropriation of public funds, including cases involving the armed forces, remain top priorities for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said while the committee has yet to finalise new topics for its 2026 sittings, it is currently completing ongoing proceedings.

She said the committee would also consider issues arising from the Auditor-General's Report, expected to be tabled in March, in line with Standing Order 77(1)(c).

"In addition, if there are proposals from PAC members to take up other issues, including those currently being discussed among the public, we may select those topics and will inform the media accordingly," she told reporters here today.

Responding to a question on whether alleged corruption cases involving the armed forces would be prioritised, Mas Ermieyati said such matters fall squarely within the committee's mandate.

"Any abuse of power, wastage or leakages are a priority for the PAC, especially when public funds are involved.

"However, any topic must first be agreed upon by all PAC members," she said. - NST
