KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will visit the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut, Perak on Jan 30 to assess the progress of the long-delayed Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project.
PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the site visit follows recent proceedings on the construction of the navy's second-generation patrol vessels.
"PAC will visit the LCS site in Lumut next week on Jan 30. This visit is a follow-up to the proceedings that have already been conducted.
"God willing, once the visit is completed, we will hold another proceeding related to the LCS," she told reporters here after attending the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 PAC Conference with the State Public Accounts Committees from across Malaysia.
She said the committee decided to inspect to verify progress firsthand, rather than relying solely on official documentation.
"We have not been to the site for some time, and this will be our third visit. While the reports we receive may look good on paper, we want to assess the situation on the ground by seeing it for ourselves," she told reporters today.
The findings from the site visit will be presented in a future proceeding, the date of which will be decided later. - NST
