KL, Shah Alam among 11 areas with unhealthy air quality

 Unhealthy API readings have also been recorded in Putrajaya and Johan Setia, as well as seven areas in Sarawak.

Eleven areas in the country recorded unhealthy API readings this morning while 55 others recorded moderate readings.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The air quality in 11 areas across the country was at an unhealthy level as of 9am today, with Sarawak reporting the highest number of affected areas.

According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System portal, Samarahan registered the highest air pollutant index (API) reading at 183, followed by Serian (182), Kuching (176), Sarikei and Sri Aman (158), Mukah and Sibu (152).

In Peninsular Malaysia, four areas recorded unhealthy readings: Johan Setia (154) and Shah Alam (101) in Selangor, as well as Kuala Lumpur (131) and Putrajaya (104).

Fifty-five areas recorded moderate API readings of between 51 and 100, while two other areas registered good air quality with API readings of below 50.

API readings from 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and above 300 hazardous.

API data is released hourly from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. - FMT
