Cops to deploy mobile station outside Najib's house in case of release; Sanusi mocks Loke's resignation offer

 

Najib’s house arrest 

- Police will be deploying a mobile station outside Najib Abdul Razak’s residence in Jalan Langgak Duta tomorrow morning as part of security preparations ahead of the former prime minister’s potential transfer from prison.

Stressing that officers are not tasked with guarding Najib (below) around the clock, Sentul district police chief Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam reportedly said the deployment is to manage security and traffic congestion during Najib’s possible return.

According to The Star, Anuar added that the mobile police station had initially arrived at the residence earlier today due to a misunderstanding, but was later withdrawn and will be redeployed at 7am tomorrow.

He also clarified that police have yet to receive confirmation on whether Najib would be brought home tomorrow to serve his house arrest, noting that he has not received any documents on whether the residence has been designated for the purpose.

In a statement today, Najib’s lawyer Shafee Abdullah said Najib’s ability to pay the conditional RM50 million fine for his transfer to house arrest partly depends on matters outside his control, as most of his assets are frozen.

- PAS election director Sanusi Nor described DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s decision to resign from the cabinet over Najib’s conditional pardon as “firecracker politics”.

Sanusi, who is also Kedah menteri besar, compared the move with DAP deputy chairperson Nga Kor Ming’s previous pledge to resign from the cabinet if Najib is released without serving a punishment commensurate with his offence.

“Nga said the same thing before. He didn’t resign either. They act as if they’re going to take action, but nothing gets done. It’s firecracker politics. Lots of noise, then silence,” Sanusi (above) was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today. 

“DAP plays flip-flop politics. Next, they’ll find an excuse not to resign. Before this, they said they wanted to leave the government. Then they found an excuse not to.” - Mkini
