IPOH: Two victims died from fire-related injuries while another succumbed to smoke inhalation in a blaze that claimed three lives at a two-storey terraced house in Taman Desa Tambun here early today.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the victims were a 64-year-old woman and two men, aged 70 and 18.
He said the threewere pronounced dead following the fire at 3.53am.
"Post-mortem examinations found that two of the victims died from injuries related to the fire, while another died from smoke inhalation," he said in a statement tonight.
He said police and Fire and Rescue Department personnel were dispatched to the scene after receiving information about the incident.
The fire was brought under control and completely extinguished at 6am.
"The cause of the fire is still under investigation," he said.
Earlier, it was reported that three family members were killed while another survived when fire destroyed their 2-storey terrace house in Tambun here.
The dead were identified as Raja Ahmad Raja Ali, 70, Zaitun Mohamed, 64, and Nik Abdurrahman Azimin Harith Helal, 18.
The sole survivor was identified as Raja Ikhwan Hadi Raja Ahmad, 47. - NST
