PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil says each state has its own political landscape and dynamics.
He said recent political developments could not be viewed through a single lens, as each state had its own political landscape and dynamics.
“We know that each state has its own political uniqueness. So, it is not impossible that such dynamics could also emerge within PH,” he told reporters here today.
Fahmi said this after officiating his ministry’s Madani Adopted Village initiative at Kampung Tebat Kering’s surau here.
Commenting on the possibility of cooperation between PH and Bersatu, Fahmi said no discussions on such a move had taken place so far.
Yesterday, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said the party would not contest the 16th general election (GE16) on its own, but as part of a political coalition.
In a separate development, Fahmi said the decision to grant a conditional pardon to former prime minister Najib Razak was subject to Article 42 of the Federal Constitution and fell within the powers of the king.
“On the government’s side, PH itself issued a statement last week. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh, who represents the government on the Federal Territories Pardons Board, have also issued statements.
“The decision to grant a conditional pardon was made by His Majesty,” he said.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim granted a conditional pardon to Najib on Friday, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine.
The legal affairs division of the Prime Minister’s Department said the decision was made at FTPB’s 64th meeting at Istana Negara on Friday. - FMT
