Its chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, said a special meeting regarding the state election will be held as soon as the official notification is received.
"The EC takes note of the announcement on the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly, which takes effect tomorrow.
"We may hold a special meeting regarding this election once we receive the official notification of the dissolution from the Melaka Speaker," he said to TV3's Buletin Utama.
Ramlan said the meeting will determine key dates for the state election, including nomination day and early voting.
Earlier today, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the Melaka state assembly will be dissolved tomorrow.
He said Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam had consented to the dissolution following an audience earlier.
The move ends weeks of speculation over when the assembly would be dissolved. - NST
