Anwar arrives at Istana Negeri Sembilan for audience with Tuanku Muhriz

 The prime minister, his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and menteri besar Ismail Lasim are expected to be granted an audience with the Yang Dipertuan Besar.

PETALING JAYA:

Several vehicles, including one believed to be carrying Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, arrived at Istana Negeri Sembilan in Changkat Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur, at 6pm today.

Anwar, his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Ismail Lasim are expected to be granted an audience with Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, Bernama reported.

The meeting comes amid a dispute over the status of Tuanku Muhriz as the state ruler.

Separately, Sinar Harian reported that the vehicle believed to be carrying the prime minister was seen leaving Istana Negeri Sembilan at about 6.58pm.

Members of the media had gathered outside the palace since 2pm. Several police vehicles were seen entering the palace compound at about 5pm.

This comes after the Negeri Sembilan palace said yesterday that Tuanku Muhriz had decided to sack 10 state executive council members for violating their oath of office and pledge of allegiance before the Yang Dipertuan Besar on Aug 7.

It said they breached their oath through their actions and statements on Sept 15.

Last week, the exco released a joint statement purportedly affirming Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as Yang Dipertuan Besar. Ismail endorsed the statement a day later. - FMT
