The special registration series generates bids totalling RM91.2 million, with more than 34,000 people taking part.
The transport ministry said the “H” series brought in bids totalling RM91.2 million and service fees totalling RM1.94 million from Sept 16 to 20.
A total of 34,664 people took part in the bidding, with 8,223 registration numbers taken up, it said in a statement today.
The second-highest bid was RM4,969,999 for “H 9”, followed by RM4,209,777 for “H 3”, RM4,007,777 for “H 5”, and RM4 million for “H 8*.
“H 6” fetched RM3.38 million, “H 2” RM3.18 million, and “H 7” RM3.1 million.
The numbers drawing the most bidders were “H 1001” and “H 100”, with 37 bidders each. This was followed by “H 1805” which attracted 36 bidders, and “H 1777” and “H 4818” which drew 32 bids each.
The ministry said proceeds from the special number plate series would be channelled towards programmes run by the ministry and the road transport department (JPJ), including road safety initiatives.
The “H” prefix has traditionally been used for taxis, but JPJ has said the new series is different as taxi registrations pair the letter “H” with a state registration prefix, such as HP for taxis in Penang.
JPJ previously said the standalone “H” was chosen to represent “harmony” in conjunction with Malaysia Day. It is the last single-letter series it plans to offer.
Separately, transport minister Loke Siew Fook hinted that the proceeds will be used to assist taxi and rental car drivers nationwide.
