Malay reserve land in Selangor increased to 403,391 acres, says MB

 Amirudin Shari says in 2018, Malay reserve land stood at 400,711 acres.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the 55.401 acres in Tanjong Karang, Sabak Bernam, was degazetted for development under the Sabak Bernam Development Area.

Malay reserve land in Selangor has increased to 403,391 acres – roughly 229,000 football fields – since 2018, menteri besar Amirudin Shari revealed today, amid questions over the status of a plot of land in Sabak Bernam.

Amirudin said that six years ago, Malay reserve land totalled 400,711 acres.

“Since 2018, the total area of Malay reserve land in Selangor has increased by 2,680 acres,” he said in a statement.

His statement follows concerns over a Sept 3 gazette, which was circulated online, that cancelled the Malay reserve status of a 55.401-acre parcel in Sabak Bernam.

He said the 55.401 acres in Tanjong Karang, Sabak Bernam, was degazetted for development under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda).

However, another 55.401 acres in Hulu Selangor was gazetted as Malay reserve land to “replace” the acreage that had been degazetted.

Sabda is a state government initiative to develop northern Selangor, focussing on food security and agrotourism along the west coast.

The project is led by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated and involves local communities such as fishermen and entrepreneurs, as well as academics. - FMT
