It advises those unable to verify their identity online using the MyKad to ask banks and other service providers for alternative verification methods in the meantime.

In a statement, JPN said it was aware of the issues faced by some holders of the new identification card and was working with the related agencies and companies to resolve the matter.
The problem affects electronic identity checks, known as electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC), which are commonly used by banks, e-wallets and other online services to verify customer identities.
“At present, eKYC service providers are updating their systems so that the design and features of the new-generation MyKad can be recognised during the verification process,” JPN said.
It said it had provided the necessary information to service providers and is monitoring developments to expedite the process. Affected users have been advised to ask their banks or service providers for alternative verification methods in the meantime.
The new MyKad was rolled out nationwide on Sept 17, featuring changes to its appearance and security features.
Problems emerged soon after the rollout, with several banks and digital services reportedly unable to recognise the new card during online identity checks. First-time MyDigital ID users with the new MyKad have also faced problems registering online.
MyDigital ID has said its system will support online registration using the new card from Oct 1. - FMT
