SAPP to contest for Batu Sapi

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will contest in the Batu Sapi by-election, said its president Datuk Yong Teck Lee on Saturday.

He said the party intended to put up a ‘formidable” challenge in the Nov 4 polls.

Yong added that the party would name its candidate on Oct 23, four days before the Oct 26 nomination day.

With SAPP contesting the seat, a three-cornered fight is shaping up for Batu Sapi that fell vacant following the death of Parti Bersatu Sabah treasurer-general Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah in a road accident on Oct 9.

Barisan Nasional’s candidate for the seat is likely to be from the PBS which will hold its supreme council meeting Oct 17 (Sunday) to shortlist their candidates.

On the same day the Pakatan Rakyat component parties will also be meeting to decide on their candidate.
