The much awaited 13 General Election seems to be just around the corner and in FEAR that blog reports and cyber reports will dictate the chances of the political parties, BN, in its desperate attempt to retain control of the federal government wants to introduce a legislative guidelines on cyber reports to curb reports that will be detrimental on BN from been exposed or written which will influence the voting trend of Malaysians.
Cyber sedition: Guidelines ready next week
KUCHING, Nov 20 — The government is to introduce guidelines that give a detailed definition of sedition in the cyber world.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein said that a draft of the guidelines had been prepared and was now being refined.
“The guidelines are expected to be ready next week,” he told reporters here after launching a service that reduces from 30 days to one day the time for replacing Mycard in Sarawak.
Hishamuddin did not say when they would be implemented.
He said that he himself had been involved in drafting the guidelines together with the Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz and the Attorney General’s Office.
Although the law on sedition covered the cyber world as well, its application in this area needed to be detailed, Hishammuddin said. — Bernama
