The country's security is not compromised in the escape of two Nigerian detainees on Thursday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said.
The ministry, however, viewed the matter seriously and would take action against those involved, he added.
"There will be no compromise on those who are found to be lacking in their duties," he told reporters after attending a Deepavali open house Sembrong, here today.
Yesterday, two immigration officers were remanded to assist in the investigation into the escape of the Nigerians.
The immigration officers were escorting the two men and a Palestinian to the KL International Airport for deportation.
On arrival at the airport, one of the officers proceeded to take the Palestinian to the terminal building, leaving the other officer and the two Nigerians in a van.
The officer later drove the van to buy drinks at a nearby petrol kiosk but claimed that seven African men in two cars stopped the van and forced him to release the Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Hishammuddin instructed police, civil defence and Rela personnel who are currently helping the flood victims in the northern state to remain there for another week in preparation for a second wave of the flood.
