Jan 27 date for ex-queen’s suit against ‘Uncle Seekers’

By Bernama

The High Court here today set January 27 next year for mention of the suit brought by former Raja Permaisuri Agong Siti Aishah Abdul Rahman against paranormal researcher Syed Abdullah Hussein Al-Attas, better known as Uncle Seekers, for breach of confidential information.

Judge Prasad Abraham set the date in chambers after an inter parte hearing, to give time to the Department of Insolvency to appoint a lawyer for Syed Abdullah, the first defendant, who has been declared a bankrupt.

The second defendant, Syed Abdullah’s father Syed Hussein Al-Attas, was also ordered to appoint a lawyer.

Siti Aishah, the plaintiff, was represented by counsel T. Gunaseelan, Anthony M. Sebastian and Ikmal Hisan Idris.

On December 3, Siti Aishah filed a suit in the High Court here against Syed Abdullah for breach of confidentiality.

In her suit, Siti Aishah had applied for an injunction to prohibit Syed Abdullah and Syed Hussein from revealing any information about her orally or through blogs and newspapers or through their representatives.

She claimed that in June she had asked Syed Abdullah for help to overcome emotional stress after he had claimed that he would be able to treat the phenomenon.

Siti Aishah said her arrangement with Syed Abdullah was that he would be paid for his services and that he agree to maintain confidentiality of all information and communication between them during the treatment and not to exploit her in any way.

She said that in November, Syed Abdullah had revealed in his blog what she claimed to be the private communication between them. — Bernama
