Perkasa sees red over flyer making rounds in Tenang

It's a deliberate attempt by PKR to provoke Malay rights NGO, charges its youth chief after filing police report.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malay rights NGO Perkasa lodged a police report over a what it claimed is a racially-tinged flyer being widely circulated, especially in the Tenang constituency.

The flyer was also posted on several blogs and on social website Facebook.

Written in Malay, it reads: ‘Warning! To all Chinese businessmen. Do not raise the prices of essential goods arbitrarily. To all Chinese voters, make sure a Malay candidate wins.’

A symbol of Barisan Nasional with an ‘X’ is depicted at the bottom of the flier.

Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah said the flyer, on a Perkasa letterhead is a mischievous attempt to provoke and smear the image of Perkasa.

“This flyer is not from Perkasa. We have investigated and found that it is a forged letterhead,” Arman told reporters after lodging a report at the Sentul police station today.

He said checks revealed that a user by the name of ‘Tibai Umno’ has circulated the image via ‘media pakatan rakyat’ and further checks showed that the individual was ‘employed’ by PKR.

“It’s stupid and immature coming from Pakatan Rakyat. They have run out of ideas for their Tenang campaign. This is childish politics, simply done to tarnish Perkasa’s image,” he said.

Arman said Perkasa is considering legal action against Pakatan Rakyat or and whoever was behind the defamatory flyer.

“Because of this, we may be forced to go down to Tenang to explain ourselves. We have never been involved in Tenang before this but now we’ve been dragged in,” said Arman.

Arman added that Johor Perkasa has been advised and more police reports on the matter will be lodged. - FMT
