PKR MP R. Sivarasa denied entry into Sarawak

Sivarasa
KUCHING, March 12 — PKR’s Subang MP R. Sivarasa was barred from entering Sarawak this morning, purportedly under orders from Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

The former party vice-president was stopped at Kuching airport, around 10.10am this morning, by immigration officials.

On his Twitter account, Sivarasa explained that he was in Kuching to attend PKR’s state convention, “a legitimate political activity”.

He added that he had been travelling alongside Selangor executive counciller Xavier Jayakumar, his wife Sheila and staff Razak, all of whom were allowed entry into the state.

At about noon, Sivarasa tweeted, “Immig Officer En Mehuen has confirmed that I am barred from entering S’wak by order of Chief Minister.I will be put on next flght to KL.”

He later reported that he was served an “official notice” on his refused entry and was being escorted home to Kuala Lumpur.

He also noted that no reasons were given for barring him apart from that it was an instruction from the Chief Minister’s office.

According to news reports, this is the second time Sivarasa was barred from entering Sarawak. He was barred before in 2009 and sent back to Kuala Lumpur.
