Sodomy II: Cop recorded Rosmah’s statement

KUALA LUMPUR: Police officer Jude Pereira told the Hight Court here that he recorded a statement from Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor in relation to the sodomy charge against Anwar Ibrahim.

Pereira, who was the investigating officer, said this when quizzed by Anwar’s lead counsel Karpal Singh.

He said the statement was recorded on July 17, 2008. However, the police officer denied meeting Najib over the case.

According to Pereira, he also recorded statements and met Rosmah’s friend, Mumtaz Jaafar, former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor and Anwar’s former aide Rahimi Osman.

The complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had previously said that he had met Najib in 2008, when the latter was deputy prime minister.

The former personal aide to Anwar said that he had met Mumtaz, but not Rosmah.

Since the onset, Anwar had claimed that the latest sodomy charge against him was a political conspiracy similar to what transpired in 1998, but the government had denied this charge.

The opposition leader is accused of sodomising Saiful at a condominum in Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008.
