PKR mulls bid for HQ in auction tomorrow
Secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told The Malaysian Insider that the matter would be decided during the party’s political bureau meeting tonight.
“We are supposed to decide on the matter tonight, it will be brought by William Leong and (Tan Sri) Khalid (Ibrahim), that is one of our options,” said Saifuddin.
The Machang MP said, however, that this depended on the price of the building. PKR is now renting the two five-storey units in Tropicana at RM20,000 a month.
“But the quoted price is very high, RM6.1 million. If we do not bid, we will look for another place in Petaling Jaya. Another option is to make sure that the new buyer honours the current contract between us and the landlord,” he added.
Leong, the party’s treasurer, said the auction will be held at the auctioneer’s office in Brickfields tomorrow afternoon.
“We have got a figure of what we think we are prepared to pay, so we’ll see how it goes,” Leong told The Malaysian Insider.
The bids for the two units will begin at RM460,000 and RM1 million individually.
