Three groups planning separate rallies on July 9 have been summoned to the Bukit Aman police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today, said Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
At a press conference in the Parliament lobby today, he said representatives of the groups have been called because they want to hold their activities without the requisite police permit.
The three groups are Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0), Malay rights pressure group Perkasa and Umno Youth.
“The police will call all parties involved because although... we (have said) we are not giving permits, statements by Perkasa, Umno Youth and Bersih (have indicated) that they will continue),” he told reporters.
However, he declined to give details on what will happen when the groups arrive at Bukit Aman.
Bersih 2.0 head Ambiga Sreenevasan, when contacted, said she is unaware of the matter.
