Speaker rejects motion on Ibrahim Ali’s Bersih threat

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia today rejected a DAP MP’s motion to discuss Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s threat against the Chinese over the Bersih rally, claiming the police was already investigating the matter.

In his rejection notice which was made in chambers, Pandikar explained that in view of the investigation the matter was not considered “urgent”.

“The Royal Malaysian Police have already taken action by conducting an investigation on this incident following a police report that they received. As such, this matter is not urgent and I reject it in chambers,” he wrote in his notice.

The motion was filed to Pandikar’s (picture)office on Tuesday by Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa.

Er attempted to protest Pandikar’s decision today after Question Time but was turned down when the Speaker threatened to send him out of the chambers.
