Who do Malaysians need: Captain Malaysia or Captain Malay

Who do Malaysians need: Captain Malaysia or Captain Malay

The Marvel comic book superhero, Captain America is one of the most popular American icons.

He is the honest-to-goodness typical American-guy-next-door with noble values such as standing up for the underdog, fighting for truth and justice and fighting against tyranny and oppression. He was given the powers of speed and super agility to fight against the bad guys of his time, i.e. the Nazis. And the trailer for this movie is pretty good too!

As for Malaysia, we need a superhero as well, namely, (drum-roll please), Captain Malaysia, defender of truth and justice and with the same noble values as Captain America too. We need an icon who can make the great Malaysian dream come true.

But what we have now is Captain Malay! Dull! Who is Captain Malay? Why, it is none other than Ibrahim Ali, of course. The Perkasa chief is Captain Malay because he champions the causes of the Malays and much more than that, he is constantly spouting racist comments against the Chinese.

No wishy-washy or flippy-floppy please

Where is Prime Minister Najib Razak, who in fact should be Captain Malaysia? Well, his voice has been drowned out by the cacophony of war-cries coming from Captain Malay and his indomitable sidekick, the Deputy Prime Minister, a.k.a. Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, he of the 'I am Malay first and Malaysian second' fame.

And serves the wishy-washy Najib right for not daing to make a political stand for fear of being ousted in his UMNO party.

All right-thinking Malaysians must cast their vote for Captain Malaysia. If Najib fails to be Captain Malaysia, we must vote in someone who can fulfill the role and right now that person is Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim!

It is about time someone lifted Malaysia out of the doldrums, and re-capture the national glory of the 1950s when Malaysia was tops in English and economy in the region. Now we have become laggards. We need rejuvenation and revitalisation. Time to pick ourselves up, pull up our socks and get down to some serious work.

And the first serious work to be done is to vote in a seious alternative as the next Federal Government. Only then can real reforms be undertaken and the corruption and malfunctions in the system be treated.

So, one vacancy for Captain Malaysia. Who will fill it? Then and only then we can start to compete and see our economic wealth grow again. Malaysia is in dire need of a superhero! And we definitely do not need Ibrahim Ali as Captain Malay.

Will the rakyat or populace please cast their votes wisely?
