RM24 million ring is for exhibition

Fresh information has surfaced that the prime minister's wife did not purchase the diamond ring which was brought in for a private exhibition.

KUALA LUMPUR: A new document has emerged revealing that the diamond ring allegedly “purchased” by the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor left the country just four days after it was brought into Malaysia.

In an e-mail sent to FMT, a blogger who wished to remain anonymous, said the RM24 million “natural fancy blue cushion cut diamond ring” was brought into the country on April 16 for a private exhibition by an unknown VVIP and was not bought by Rosmah as earlier claimed.

The ring was sent to Singapore on April 20.

A set of import and export declaration documents showed that the ring was brought into the country by Jacob & Co c/o (care of) Malca Amit Kuala Lumpur. Jacob & Co are producers of the ring.

The document also had a special print which states: “Inspection by: H.E.Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.”

An attachment to the documents revealed that the ring was sent to Singapore on April 20 by Malca Amit (Malaysia) to its Singapore branch.

It is learnt that the ring was later sent back to its owner Jacob & Co in New York.

Both the documents were signed by a Customs officer by the name of A Krishnan and acknowledged by Abdul Najid Abdul Razak, the Customs director special assistant.

There was a contradiction in the documents, which put the price of the ring at RM24 million in the importer declaration while the value is RM23.73 million in the exporter’s declaration.

The invoice number for the same item also differed.

Meanwhile, Rembau PKR division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin in his blog claimed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had arrested Krishnan who signed the Customs documents.

Badrul, also known as Chegubard, however, did not state when “Krishnan” was detained.

Last week, several Pakatan Rakyat friendly bloggers claimed that Rosmah had bought the ring from Jacob & Co for a whopping RM75 million based on its value of US$24 million.

Rosmah has yet to explain the fiasco but this latest evidence indicates that it was not she who bought the ring and that it was only brought into the country for exhibition purposes.
