KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — A key defence witness lashed out at the prosecution in today’s Sodomy II trial, saying there was no DNA evidence to show how complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s semen was found in the latter’s own anus.
“The swab never came from his ass,” Dr Brian McDonald snapped, in a sudden outburst his morning under questioning from lead prosecution counsel, Datuk Yusof Zainal Abiden, and livening an otherwise routine session.
“The DNA evidence does not tell us that there is no semen from the complainant on that swab,” Dr McDonald said, adding: “or the swab never went near his ass.”
The Australian scientist was replying to the prosecution’s question on how Mohd Saiful’s sperm cells made its way into his rectum.
