Police reports lodged over Najib's '1Msia cuti'

A PKR-linked NGO has lodged police reports in a number of states over the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's apparent use of a government aircraft for purposes of a recent holiday to Australia.

More police reports will be lodged over the matter tomorrow, Badrul Hisham - a PKR supreme council member known popularly as 'Chegubard' - said in the postings.

The move follows reports that Najib, conspicuously missing in action on Malaysia's National Day, had used a jet owned by the government - an Airbus A319-11X which sports the 1Malaysia symbol as the tail logo - to fly to Australia on Wednesday, Aug 31.

The aircraft is operated by Jet Premier One (M) Sdn Bhd. The aircraft was bought by Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd (PMB), which is a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

In his report lodged in Seremban, SAMM coordinator Saufi Mi'ad said if the reports are accurate, it was inappropriate for the premier to be holidaying overseas on the country's national day.

More seriously, however, is the question as to whether official government property and funds were used for a private and personal affair, said Saufi.

“The aircraft is not Najib's personal aircraft to use at the expense and cost of the government,” Saufi was quoted as saying.

“This raises questions as to whether there had been misuse of power by Najib for his personal benefit.

“For this reason, as a taxpayer and for the sake of the public, I ask that investigations be done urgently against Najib for misusing public property and abusing his authority to benefit himself and family,” he added.
