The Nilai area in Negeri Sembilan continues to register unhealty air quality, with an air pollutant index (API) reading of 105 at 5.30pm (101 at 11am) Friday, the Department of Environment said.
Thirty-five other areas, mostly on the west coast of the peninsula recorded air quality that is close to unhealthy.
The areas are: Bukit Rambai, Malacca 94 (98 at 11am), Seremban 85 (84, Balok Baru in Kuantan 87 (85), SK Jalan Pagoh 80 (74), Banting 90 (86), Kuala Selangor 85 (80) Port Klang 91 (88), Petaling Jaya 95 (94), Batu Muda 91 (88), Cheras 91 (87), Shah Alam 95 (93) and Putrajaya 88 (84).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
The department said in a statement Thursday that it expected the haze to persist in the next few days and advised the public not to carry out open burning. - Star
