Adam Adli, who is celebrated and vilified by opposing student groups, had lodged a report after he received threats to his safety following his protest at the Umno headquarters.
The 22-year-old Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris student is currently under investigation by the university for his involvement in last Saturday's rally.
Four police reports have also been lodged against him.
The Malay-language newspaper Sinar Harian today reported that the student’s father had asked PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin to look out for his son's safety.

“I acted maturedly... there have been worse actions taken, like sending a cake resembling faeces, etc. to the Penang chief minister lately. Was that mature?” the student hit back.
He added that his foremost concern now is his safety, and not whether he will be expelled from the university, and that his parents support his struggle.
