Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming has insulted the state and its royal institution by calling it 'Perak Darul Kartun', Menteri Besar Zambry Abd Kadir said today.
Zambry said the Taiping member of parliament should not have used such a term because as a leader, he should show good character to the people.
"With Nga's attitude, the people should judge for themselves whether this is the kind of leader they want to follow.
"By calling the state 'Perak Darul Kartun', he has insulted Perak," he told reporters at a meet-the-clients day at the State Secretariat Building, Ipoh.
Zambry had been asked about Nga uttering such offending words and insulting the menteri besar at a ceramah on Sept 9.
After being slammed by various quarters including political leaders and non-governmental organisations, Nga recently apologised to Zambry for calling him "metallic black".
Asked about the suggestion by Kedah Umno deputy chief Mukhriz Mahathir for all Umno elected representatives to sign a pledge of continuous support and loyalty to the party, Zambry, however, disagreed.
"This is not necessary as it will not be effective," he said.
"We should have the spirit in ourselves to struggle for the party, to win support for it.
"But if there are back-stabbers and insincere supporters among us, despite taking the pledge, it is still bad for the party," he added.
