The government will decide whether to set up a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into Sabah's Project IC, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Liew Vui Keong.
However, the decision would be made only after the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reform submits it's full report next year.
Liew (right) said the government will not make the decision now eventhough the PSC's interim report was tabled last week.
He added that the PSC still has four more public hearings to hold, with the first beginning today in Kuching, while the last hearing will be held on Jan 13, 2012, in Johor Baru.
Having completed it's four hearings nationwide, PSC will then prepare a full report, Liew told the media at parliament.
Liew was commenting on a suggestion in PSC’s interim report that the government may want to carry out an RCI into Project IC as a long-term measure.
The government would first decide on whether to probe the alleged Project IC in Sabah before further decisions are made on other similar projects beyond the state.
Liew, who is also the president of the Liberal Democratic Party, said he had submitted his complaints on Project IC during the PSC's public hearing in Sabah.
