Lim Guan Eng will not accept any gifts for his 51st birthday today as “the birthday of the Penang chief minister is a personal matter and not an official celebration of the state.”
His political secretary Zairil Khir Johari said the DAP secretary-general, who is returning from Taiwan today, and members of his staff will not be receiving any gifts from the public.
“Members of the public who wish to present gifts can do so by donating to any charitable cause,” he said in a statement.
When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Zairil said the notice was issued after a member of the public brought a gift for Lim this morning.
