Azmin to lead a victory convoy to Penang to celebrate Sodomy II acquittal

Azmin to lead a victory convoy to Penang to celebrate Sodomy II acquittal
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali will lead a "people's convoy" from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, the home state of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, to celebrate his acquittal from manifestly fabricated charges pressed by Prime Minister Najib Razak's government to derail his political advancement.
In Penang, Azmin together with Anwar's daughter Nurul Izzah and PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution will give a ceramah or political lecture at the Tapak Ekspo Seberang Jaya at 9.00 pm on Monday night, January 9, 2012.
Focus now on building a new Malaysia
After a long-drawn out trial that emotionally exhausted Malaysians and turned off big foreign investors, Najib finally decided not to jail Anwar as he had been iwdely expected to so.
Pundits said the political incarceration would cause the BN victory in the general election widely expected to be called this year or early next year, and judging by the overwhelming support from the people today and in the past weeks, it certainly appeared to be a valid prophecy.
Anwar himself immediately pledged to topple the BN after the verdict was announced, vowing there would no let-up in the Pakatan drive to wrest the federal government.
"I feel vindicated but we still have a struggle. We have to now focus on the general election,” Anwar told reporters this morning.
He was accused of sodomising an assistant Saiful Bukhair Azlan in June 2008, but has accused Najib and wife Rosmah of hatching the plot to stop his political career. If found guilty, Anwar would be barred from contesting in the next general elections and may even face jail of up to 20 years.
