Cops harassing Wan Azizah's bodyguard, claims PKR

Police are alleged to have been harassing the bodyguard of PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail over his statement that he may have been pierced with a poisoned needle during a ceramah last week.

According to Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman,  bodyguard Fayyadh Afiq Albakry Jaafar Sidek, 26, had discharged himself from the Seberang Jaya hospital and checked into another hospital to avoid the “harassment”.

However, Mansor, who is also Penang PKR chief, did not disclose where Fayyadh Afiq has been re-hospitalised.

When asked why Fayyadh Afiq moved to another hospital, Mansor replied that “he had been disturbed by police officers”.

“The police keep asking him this and that (about his case) while he was still not feeling well,” said Mansor, when met at a ceramah in Seberang Jaya last night.

‘Wait for victim to get well’

On whether Fayyadh Afiq should be giving the police his full cooperation, Mansor said that it was not wrong to take a statement from him but the police officers should wait until he is fit to answer their questions.

NONELast Saturday, the bodyguardclaimed that his left hand was hurt after being pierced with a sharp object while accompanying Wan Azizah to speak at a ceramah in Galeri Pejuang.

Penang police chief Ayub Yaakob told the media that the force had formed aspecial team to investigate the case, and to determine the cause and actual injury suffered by the victim.

Meanwhile, police confirmed that Fayyadh Afiq had discharged himself from the Seberang Jaya hospital at 1.40am on Monday.

Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Zahruddin Abdullah said Fayyadh Afiq discharged himself so as to get specialist treatment in another hospital.

“Further tests on the blood and urine samples of the victim were carried out at the Chemistry Department and they were found to be free from any drug or poison,” Zahruddin said, in a statement.

“Prior to this, a similar test had been done at the Penang General Hospital and the results also showed that the samples were free from any drug or poison,” he added.
