SHAH ALAM: A ‘few leaders’ in DAP are beginning to ‘emulate’ Barisan Nasional leaders and their political styles in a bid to win supporters and their constituents.
Exposing a prevailing view held by grassroot members, Sekinchan state representative Ng Suee Lim alleged that some leaders were ‘more concerned about money than serving the people’ and ‘action must be taken’ against them.
Ng was speaking at the 2012 DAP National Convention at Jubli Perak Hall in Shah Alam earlier today.
“(In) our leadership right now, a few of our leaders are starting to emulate BN politics like MCA. Sometimes they are not serving the people (but), competing with money.
“Grabbing public attention with allocation after allocation. This is not the culture of the DAP.
“We must take action on the leaders who are doing this,” he said.
Ng also called for the Selangor Competency Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) committee to investigate the allegations of corruption and power abuse by controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.
“I want Selcat to start an investigation or public inquiry to see if this (allegations) is real or not, so that the people will be more confident of us,” he said.
Selangor to investigate RPK’s claims
RPK, had on Friday, alleged that PKR deputy president Azmin Ali’s brother-in-law, Johan Taharin, had demanded bribes from a developer in the state who was having difficulty getting project approvals from the state.
He also claimed that a large chunk of Petaling Jaya City Hall (MBPJ) legal works had been out-sourced to law firms linked to several PKR leaders.
Among the leaders said to be involved in the MBPJ issue were PKR vice-president N Surendran, Subang MP R Sivarasa and MBPJ councillors Lateefa Koya and Derrick Fernandez.
Yesterday MCA also called for a public inquiry into allegations.
Meanwhile Selangor government today said it will investigate Raja Petra’s allegations.
Said Selangor Legislative Assembly Speaker Teng Chang Kim: “We will investigate the allegations regardless whether it involves Pakatan or Barisan Nasional reps.
“However we’ll need to discuss because we have a Selangor competency accountability and transparency (Selcat) committee and we also have a select committee on local government,” said Teng, who is also Selcat chairman.
