1Care: 'Once privatised, we'll be made to pay'

YOURSAY ‘Pre-Fomema, a medical test cost only RM120 or so. Once privatised, the cost shot up to RM190.'

Docs reject 1Care scheme, healthcare not a business

your sayFairnessforall: We should all support the Citizens' Healthcare Coalition (CHC) against 1Care health scheme. The government has shown that they do not care about the rakyat and keep coming up with scams every now and then to benefit their cronies and steal more money from the rakyat.

What happens to those who do not have a job, where will they go for healthcare? What about the poor and old-aged?

What the government wants to do is assign the patient to only one doctor and the patient will not be able to see another doctor. On top of that, the patient will only be able to see the doctor six times a year.

And it wants us to pay 10 percent of our salary per month for this insurance.

So imagine if you are earning RM2,000, RM200 will be deducted every month which total RM2,400, divide this by six times, it comes to RM400 per visit. This is madness. Even private hospitals charge less for each visit.

Gen2indian: A respected world leader and economist once said that education and healthcare should never be privatised, i.e. turned into a business enterprise. I am suffering the consequences of the former and now they are coming up with the latter.

With the Banting-Taiping Highway being given to an Umno crony for 60 years, we ordinary people (and our grandchildren) are being screwed left, right and centre. God knows what other ‘piratisation' is in the pipeline.

Maplesyrup: In Malaysia, every time something is privatised, instead of bringing a better life to Malaysians, inevitably we are made to pay. Take the tolled roads for instance.

And what about the sewage under Indah Water? Pre-Indah Water, we paid quit rent/assessment and the government was supposed to provide the service. With privatisation, there was no change to the rates paid, but we now have to incur an extra RM8 per month.

How about the Fomema medical programme? Pre-Fomema, a medical test cost only RM120 or so. Once privatised, the cost shot up to RM190. Why are Malaysians paying an extra RM70?

If the Immigration Department becomes more efficient, how come the number of civil servants did not come down?

With the Malaysian government's track record (or the lack of it), it is a foregone conclusion that the 1Care scheme will be a failure that Malaysians have to pay for all their lives.

Lone_star: The rakyat must stand up for what is good. Go tell your MPs what you think of 1Care. If it is not good for you, PM Najib Razak and gang must be told, and send them packing if they won't listen.

1Care looks like another scheme to rid the government of its social responsibility. The National Health Service (NHS) in Britain is no gold standard for healthcare systems and the people of the UK have found that it is a mess, so why is the BN government following in the footsteps of this mess?

Say no to 1Care and the BN if it insists on dumping it on the rakyat.

Ace: This is another evil scheme to rip off the rakyat. Imagine, 10 percent of the total income of all Malaysians in the country, the amount is staggering - this is the fast track road to unimaginable riches to the party/parties undertaking this ‘enterprise'.

P Dev Anand Pillai: It is a pity that the poor and ignorant Malays in the kampungs will never know what is happening until they land at the doorstep of the hospital. Once there and they are asked for money first or card first before care is given, only then will they revolt.

This can be put in place if the Malays teach their leaders who are running the federal government now a hard lesson which they will never forget.

Forget about the Chinese and Indians, we don't matter. We are on our way to extinction. The answer and solution lies with the Malays and the new Malays whom they import as voters.

So there you are folks, the real sodomiser is the BN government, and the victims are us - the poor numbskulls of the rakyat.

Mangodurian: It sounds like this will turn into China's healthcare system - it's cheap to register, but if you don't have the money up-front for treatment, you can outside in the cold until you do. Even the US' healthcare system is a shame, although they cannot refuse a patient in grave danger.

Docs: As a doctor, I can say that the 1Care scheme is ill-conceived (just like Najib's 1Malaysia Clinic plan which we don't hear about these days) and will certainly collapse.

Most doctors are against this scheme (except for Dr Mahathir Mohamad maybe) which will in the end enrich some politicians and cause misery to rakyat who will be paying for this scheme but receive substandard treatment.

Doctors know that once the scheme is financially mismanaged, the payment for doctor services will be withheld by the scheme.

Once the scheme goes bust (as with all ventures managed by the Umno-BN government), the doctors will be blamed or made the scapegoats.

Malayamuda: My utmost respect for the doctors who are standing up for all of us. Thank you, doctors. - Malaysiakini
