Sunday, Malaysians in Kuantan, KL, Ipoh, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak came out to send a message to Najib and his administration.

We do not want Lynas in our country.

OUR COUNTRY!

Yet, Malaysianinsider reports that BN MPs think that apart from the people of Gebeng, the rakyat in the rest of the country don’t give 2 hoots about the Lynas issue.

Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed is reported to have said that no rural voter outside of Balok, located near the Gebeng plant, cared about the Lynas issue.

Health minister Liow Tiong Lai, who tried to cover up the shooting of teargas into the compound of the Tung Shin hospital during the BERSIH 2.0 rally in July last year, claims that the opposition has “hijacked” civil society for their own political gain in the Lynas issue.

Meaning to say that the civil society gatherings on Sunday were stage-managed by the opposition parties rather than a civil society reaction to the Lynas issue.

I can now confirm that the gatherings in KL, Ipoh, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak were all civil society initiatives to lend solidarity to the civil society initiative in Kuantan.

My Facebook buddy, FrancesIpohGal, suggested the other day that we should keep the momentum by protesting every Friday in front of the Aussie embassy in KL.

I think we can and should do more than that.

Nur Jaslan thinks that those outside of Gebeng do not care?

Tiong Lai thinks that we in civil society are being manipulated by opposition parties?

We can show them how wrong they are.

Every Friday, Muslims nation wide gather for congregational prayers at mosques.

I call upon all Muslims to organise anti-Lynas gatherings outside their mosques after Friday prayers every week.

Invite non-Muslims to join you in these anti-Lynas gatherings.

Maybe KL, Selangor, Ipoh, Kedah and Kelantan can lead the way in this initiative.
