DAP wants truce with SAPP

Sabah DAP wants SAPP to stop discrediting the party and "associating them" with PAS' Hasan Ali.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP has called for a ceasefire with Sabah Progressive Peoples Party (SAPP) and to restart their negotiation on cooperation/seats allocation to face their common enemy – Barisan Nasional (BN) – in the coming general election.
Urging this was its state deputy chairman Fred Fung, stressing that this is what they should do, instead of continuing with their spat in the public.
He said the ongoing spat in the public will not resolve anything, as long as there is misunderstanding and lack of trust, which are the dividing factors.
He thus advises DAP leaders to stop the argument, with the hope that SAPP will do the same.
Fred who is also the head of DAP Sabah seat negotiation team believed any cooperation between DAP and SAPP will be done for the sake and benefits of people.
“We should emphasize on building mutual trust between both parties. Apparently, throughout this one-week argument, we found that the main problem for both parties is the lack of mutual trust.
“Since we have the common vision and aim, why not we calm down and settle the problem rationally instead of emotionally. Otherwise, we will have difficult to achieve anything,” he said.
He however said Sabah DAP would regret if SAPP continues to discredit DAP and to paint it as arrogant and a spoiler.
“Stop associating us with Hasan Ali or telling the people we are colluding with Umno. These are not true at all,” he stressed.
Noting that DAP leaders were are rational and open to discussion for cooperation, he reiterated the party’s call to SAPP to join Pakatan Rakyat to defeat Umno and BN in the 13th general election.
“We should always remind ourselves that BN is our common enemy” Fred concluded.
