KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) rejects claims that the 1 Malaysia People’s Assistance (BR1M) was a form of bribery.
The RM500 assistance is to help the poor said chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohamed, Bernama Online reported.
He was responding to a question from a lawyer during the Q&A during the ‘Strengthening Integrity and Combating Procurement Fraud’ session, part of the National Procurement Forum for the Public and Private Sector 2012 today in the capital.
He said that the people should decide if they were happy with the government’s handout, and if they were unhappy they should relay that message to the government.
Penang lawyer Sharifah Intan Aidid raised the question.
