‘RM2.2b project reward for retaking Perak’

Raja Petra claims that an expressway project has been awarded to a company of which former chief justice Zaki Azmi's wife and current Umno legal adviser Mohd Hafarizam Harun, are directors.
PETALING JAYA: Raja Petra Kamarudin has claimed that the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) project has been awarded to a company of which former chief justice Zaki Azmi’s wife and current Umno legal adviser Mohd Hafarizam Harun, are directors.
The Malaysia Today editor alleged that the contract was a reward with regard to helping Umno reclaim Perak from the opposition via a political coup in 2009.
He said the concession was initially supposed to go to PLUS, for the project aimed at diverting traffic from the LDP was the company’s brainchild.
“However, it was hijacked and given to all those lawyers and judges who helped Umno get back Perak,” he added in a posting on his news portal.
According to Raja Petra, the companies that had been awarded the concession for the RM2.2 billion project was Emrail Sdn Bhd and Zabima Engineering and Construction Sdn Bhd.
“The letter has been issued but this would only be announced after the next general election for obvious reasons,” he said.
Raja Petra said that Hafarizam, who represented Umno against Pakatan Rakyat in the Perak constitutional crisis, was the common director and shareholder for both companies.
“Incidentally, did you notice one crucial matter? Yes, you got it, the current Umno legal adviser represented Umno in the Perak constitutional crisis while the previous Umno legal adviser (Zaki) made the decision of ‘ordering his number two to sit on the bench in his place’. And guess who won the case? Talk about ‘all in the family’!” he added.
As for the other directors of Emrail, the blogger said the board included Zaki’s wife Nik Sazlina Mohd Zain and Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) director Hari Narayanan Govindasamy.
Hari, claimed the blogger, was a proxy of former works minister and MIC president S Samy Vellu.
