Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, is scheduled to receive an honorary doctorate from the Curtin University in Australia this weekend, said Negeri Sembilan menteri besar today.
"There are people here who have been saying bad things about her, but just look at how people of other countries (Australia) appreciate her by conferring a doctorate on her," Mohamad Hassan told a crowd of about 2,000 in Rahang, Seremban.
Najib and Rosmah are scheduled to fly to Australia later today, but it’s not confirmed where Rosmah will receive her doctorate as Curtin University has two campuses - in Perth and Sydney.
Mohamad told the crowd that Najib has to cancel one of his scheduled events in Taman Desa Rhu this afternoon and return to Kuala Lumpur.

Rosmah has received constant criticism for her allegedly expensive lifestyle. Recently she was accused of a shopping spree on an exclusive designer label clothing in Sydney, Australia.
She was last year accused of attempting to order a diamond ring worth RM24.45 million, but has vehemently denied it.
She has also been accused of spending thousands of ringgit on Hermes handbags, with a collage of press photographs of her carrying the bags going viral on the Internet.
Her infamy has sparked an online game ‘Aku Jimat’ (I do save money) that was promptly pulled off the internet.

Najib in his speech later told the crowd that Malaysians were glad and welcomed his Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) RM500 cash aid.
“If the opposition said that we borrowed the money from World Bank to handover this cash, then it’s a cerita dongeng (myth) by the opposition.
“We are not like Greece,” Najib said, referring to the European Union member whose debt woes have unsettled global economies.
Najib was in Negeri Sembilan to hand over house ownership certificates and the one-off cash assistance to residents in Rahang.
