SABAHANS 'CHEATED' BY PM NAJIB ON RCI ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

PM Hj Najib had just concluded his two days visit to Sabah. Many expectation were expected to be announced during his visit. The most crucial matter that most Sabahans and BN component parties except UMNO had been the announcement of setting-up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the illegal immigrant issue.

There was already a sense by certain parties like STAR, that UMNO led BN federal government will avoid the setting-up of a RCI since the UMNO State government was able to topple the then PBS with the illegal Muslim immigrants from Sulu, Philippines and Kalimantan, Indonesia. Named Project-M, this dubious scheme had increased the Sabah population with illegal immigrants and a big slice of UMNO voting base.

It was reported that at the eleventh hour, UMNO officials had met with PM Hj Najib to discuss on the RCI issue. Sabah UMNO fears that if this issue is exposed Sabah will lose and will no longer be their "fixed deposit' as it is been claimed. Free Malaysia Today reported yesterday evening claiming that a secret meeting last night where UMNO warlords in Sabah convinced PM Hj Najib that the mostly Muslim legalised illegals had voted for BN in every consecutive elections and you can read more here and a Malaysiakini report this morning which you can read here.

To show his concern and to keep the Sabahans happy, PM Hj Najib had announced that FREE HOUSING programme will be introduced where homeless Sabahans will be given homes free. This seems to be a UMNO political gimmick since the cost of a house is expected to be about RM60,000 (everything inclusive) a unit. PM Hj Najib seems that with this issue been announced it will tone down the RCI issue, which every Sabahan had expected that he would have announced during his visit.

It seems the dream to see a setting-up of a RCI will never materialise of fear that this safe 'fixed-deposit' will be lost come this GE13.

Sabahans on the other hand will have to keep pressuring the UMNO federal government to establish the RCI on illegal immigrants if they want Sabahans to continue to vote for them. Maybe another alternative would be that if the Opposition comes to power at Putrajaya after GE13 they could be blessed with a RCI and their long outstanding issue on illegal immigrants could be resolved.

It will all be up to Sabahans to decide?
