What Tajudin and Shahrizat have in common

YOURSAY 'The loan to Tajudin was another Umno scam masterminded by Mahathir - almost RM600 million of public funds gone.'

Tajudin and Danaharta settle RM589mil suit

your sayJedi_Who: We should ask the question just as we did with NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) - how was such a huge loan approved to a single person to buy shares in MAS?

Was he in the airport business or was he put there to siphon the money and shared it with his partners?

How much money in total has Tajudin Ramli made from the MAS shares? It is clear that there are influential people behind him otherwise he would have been burnt at the stake.

So how much would be the losses due to this out-of-court settlement with all the GLCs (government-linked corporations)?

This is important to know since Umno is in a rush to bury this issue before the campaigning for GE13 starts.

Abasir: This was another Umno scam masterminded by Mahathir - almost RM600 million of public funds gone.

This is exactly how PM Najib Razak regime, aided and abetted by the apologists in Pemandu, will deal with corruption, mismanagement and cronyism.

This is 'Rakyat didahulukan' in practice. The same settlement will be effected for that other scam called the NFC. Watch this space.

Armageddon: I recall Tajudin Ramli paid less than RM8 per share for the MAS (Malaysia Airlines) stake and sold them later at RM8 per share. He surely made tonnes of money.

Now he does not have to pay the RM589 million loan to Danaharta, which rightfully belongs to the public. How much more he wants to cut our throat. We might as well pay him the RM13 billion that he is claiming.

Sundralingam: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad bought back MAS shares from Tajuddin at RM8 when the price was less than RM4 in the market. He was, after all, using his father's money.

James1067: Well, one side we see RM250 million going down the drain, as up to today no action has been taken to recover the loan.

Now another RM589 million settled behind closed doors. We can assume that this has been written off.

RM589 million can build a hospital to take care of thousands of people who need medical care.

This is why they are pushing for the mandatory 1Care health insurance as millions of ringgit, which can provide quality healthcare, has gone into the pockets of a few.

Ksn: What does this settlement mean? Will the RM589 million of public funds be returned to Danaharta? Full clarification is called for. Will Danaharta please explain?

ONG: If the trial goes ahead, Tajudin will surely expose whatever secrets that are connected with the scam.

The nature of the secrets must be such that right from the beginning, Tajudin knew that the government cannot afford to allow them to crawl out of the woodwork.

Besides Tajudin, other major beneficiaries of the settlement would be Mahathir and ex-finance minister Daim Zainuddin - both of whom Tajuddin claims orchestrated the MAS affair.

Are the retirees still pulling the strings?

Anonymous_3f1f: Nothing surprises me. It is expected that case would be settled out of court.

The government will not allow the case to drag to the court, otherwise everything will be exposed and all the culprits will end up going behind bars.

Onyourtoes: On what basis the parties to the dispute must be coerced into settlement?
We now have a new methodology (which should be given a Nobel Prize) - if someone sue you, it does not matter who is right or wrong, just counter sue, and somehow both parties will be forced into a settlement with the wrongdoer walking away scot-free.

What nonsense is this? Hello, Danaharta is not representing some private investment or interest. It holds public money on behalf of Malaysian taxpayers.

How dare they agree to a settlement that is kept confidential? Where is the accountability and transparency?

Lim Chong Leong: In the spirit of settlement amongst thieves, we the rakyat have been robbed once again.

This time in broad daylight along the corridors of our highest courts in a building called the Palace of Justice.

Michael_22d9: If Tajuddin is not required to pay a single cent, can Minister in the PM's Department Nazri Abdul Aziz now stand accused of constructive criminal breach of trust by allegedly asking the GLCs to give away RM600 million?

You don't need to be lawyer to know this is a rip-off.

Roughly RM600 million of Danaharta's money disappear into thin air. Where is the accountability?

This is certainly bigger than Cowgate. There should be an RCI (royal commission of inquiry) surely.

Victor Johan: It's now the other way around - social responsibility of the Umno-BN government towards their elite cronies and fellow swindlers. - Malaysiakini
