BN assemblyperson fumes over land fraud jibe

BN state assemblypersons were up in arms in the Selangor state assembly sitting this afternoon after opposition leader Satim Diman (BN-Seri Serdang, below) was accused of selling off state land.

NONEThe shouting match began when Abdul Shukor Idrus (BN-Kuang) accused the Pakatan Rakyat state government of selling off the assets of state-owned companies, including lands, to raise its income.

At this, Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei (PKR-Sri Muda) cheekily responded: "The ones that sell off lands are Seri Serdang and Sungai Burong," which prompted Mohd Isa Abu Kasim (BN-Batang Kali) to demand an explanation over the allegation.

"Explain your allegation! Do not simply denigrate my colleagues... if you are not going to explain, withdraw your statement," Mohd Isa demanded.

Mat Shuhaimi declined the challenge, but questioned if Mohd Isa had a share in the sales for taking the matter personally, provoking an angry tirade from him.
'Allegations are unfounded'
This prompted deputy speaker Haniza Mohamed Talha to shut off Mohd Isa's microphone and invoke House rules to compel him to remain silent.

Mohd Isa later told journalists outside Assembly hall that the allegations were unfounded but he was forced to remain quiet to avoid from being thrown out of the House.

"Pakatan likes to defame people... we can make accusations but with facts, you cannot blame all your faults on BN," he said.

In the sitting in November last year, Mohd Isa was suspended for a day after he continuously raised his dissatisfaction, after claiming that Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim had failed to answer his question.

The session this morning, possibly the last sitting before the next general election, was fairly low-key as controversial questions had to be skipped in the absence of Khalid from the sitting.

Khalid had left the session to attend a function with the Selangor Sultan after delivering his message of condolence to the family of the late Bukit Gasing state assemblyperson Edward Lee.
