Plundering of Yayasan Selangor worse than NFC

YOURSAY 'These are good examples to explain why we should be unforgiving to PM Najib's apologetic stand and press for accountability.'

RM500mil missing from Yayasan S'gor, says GM

your sayProgressive: Selcat (Selangor State Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency) or the Selangor government, should appoint any of the big four international accounting firms such as PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) or KPMG to get to the bottom of this and make the findings public.

This should not be just a political fishing trip by Pakatan Rakyat Selangor to demonise Umno. Get those crooks, please. Stop pussycatting around. We want some action and the bulk of the money back.

Clever Voter: If you hire experts to do a forensics audit, chances are you can trace where these have gone to, but recovery can slow.

Legal obstacles aside, these are good examples to explain why we should be unforgiving to PM Najib Razak's apologetic stand, and press for accountability. Let's vote for real change.

Ong: If the current Yayasan Selangor management cannot determine how such a big amount had gone missing, I guess former Selangor MB Khir Toyo and his gang must have destroyed the files and documents immediately after the 2008 GE results.

Why don't the current management offer a reward of 10-20 percent of whatever pilfered money can be traced and recovered to whoever supplies information that leads to such recovery?

AngryBird: This is nothing to be surprised about. This is Umno's trademark. It looks like in Umno, swindling and cheating is the way of life. What have the two ‘Ali's (Ibrahim and Hasan), who are the so-called defenders of Islam, have to say over this issue?

Blind Freddo: There is a widespread belief among public servants that they are all little prime ministers. That belief gives them the right to make up their own rules and regulations, especially if the imposition of their rules makes it easier to solicit bribes.

They also have this amazing belief that public money is there for them to indulge their own personal goals and fantasies. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that they believe they are the supreme race or it is simply a matter of zero principles and ethics.

But then Yayasan Selangor general manager Ilham Marzuki has given me the answer to my question.

The Malaysiakini report said, "He (Ilham) also agreed with Teng's assertion that as the new boss, he had to follow the ‘culture' of an organisation like Yayasan Selangor, including the questionable financial practices."

I cannot believe that anyone in a position of responsibility should have such shallow ethics.

Mighty Bear: "I was not made aware that such practices broke state financial guidelines. Had I been advised as such, I would not have allowed these to go on," said Ilham.

People who talk like this should go back to primary school. I can't even trust him with a pencil, leave alone RM8 million.

Jean Pierre: I am more concerned about the kind of person Ilham is. He seems a chip off the old Umno block. Pakatan should appoint someone capable, honest and principled. Or have you none?

Bystander: I am not at all surprised with all these news of the plundering of the nation's wealth. I am sure there is more to come.

Can you imagine 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) is contemplating paying RM9.5-RM12 billion ringgit for a fatigued power producing plant owned by Malaysian tycoon Ananda Krishnan, who took Tanjong Energy Holdings (THE) for slightly more than RM2 billion about a couple of years ago, only to resell it to the most willing of buyers?

Nambekei 7: Any idiot in Selangor will tell you the excesses of former MB Khir Toyo's Umno government was abusing. As usual, the stupid loyal MCA and MIC have just got the crumbs.

Anonymous: Is it surprising to see this news? Definitely, not. You will be assured that just about everything involving money within the government has been manipulated.

I will give you an example. In a company, if the board of directors practices corruption, the middle-level managers will definitely know about it and hence everybody in the company will follow suit and practice corruption.

Why can't the managing director not get rid of those evil directors? If he does this, he will not be elected as MD.

What about the shareholders? The board just feeds some bread crumbs to them during the AGM, and these well-fed shareholders will be very happy and elect the same board of directors.

However, eventually the company will go bankrupt and the shareholders will lose all their money. The board of directors will say 'thank you' to the shareholders because they were the one who had elected them to run the company.

Kelantanese: No wonder DPM Muhyiddin Yassin didn't want to go into detail of the previous BN mistakes, as if we don't know what happened. - Malaysiakini
