Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has denied links with with the KL Eco City project which is taking place in her former Parliamentary constituency of Lembah Pantai.
Responding to allegations by PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who succeeded Shahrizat as Lembah Pantai MP, which she described as "slander".
"To the Lembah Pantai MP, I will not hesitate to take legal action against her or any party for slander, linking me with KL Eco City," Shahrizat(left) said in a text message sent out by her aide.
Nurul Izzah was among several PKR leaders who held a press conference today to reveal the purchases of eight property units by National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) directors.
The NFC's directors comprise of Shahrizat's family members.
Nurul Izzah had also questioned if there was possible conflict of intereston the part of Shahrizat, who should have access to development plans for the area.
“Is Shahrizat ready to explain her role in influencing the decision to move the residents of Kampung Abdullah Hukum for this project?
“Did it have anything to do with her family’s interest in purchasing KL Eco City units?” she asked.
Kampung Abdullah Hukum was a thriving squatter colony along the banks of the Klang river until they were evicted recently to make way for the KL Eco City project.

As for the purchase of the eight properties, Shahrizat said:"Please refer all questions regarding the development or property purchases to the KL Eco City management".
