The chairman of the Election Commission said this was because the electoral roll for the first quarter of the year will only be closed on the date and gazetted in May.
“If the applicants are not involved in the objections, they are eligible to vote,” Aziz was quoted by the state news agency.
“Up to the last quarter of 2011 ending December 31, the number of registered voters nationwide was 12,595,268 while 3,088,540 or 19.7 per cent had yet to register as voters,” he added.
Those intending to register as voters or update their particulars may do so at any computerised post office, EC mobile registration counters, at the EC headquarters in Putrajaya, and state EC offices.
