Cops quiz Nizar over claim that PM met military chiefs

IPOH, May 24 — Police today recorded a statement from Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin over his claim during a ceramah that the prime minister had met with armed forces chiefs, asking them to do “something” if Barisan Nasional (BN loses in the coming general election.
The Perak PAS deputy commissioner arrived at the Ipoh district police headquarters at 10.15am, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Fatimah Taat and three lawyers, before giving his statement for about an hour.
When met by reporters, Nizar(picture) said he had given all the information required by police.
Recently, several individuals and non-governmental organisations had lodged police reports over the statement allegedly made by Mohammad Nizar, who is also Pasir Panjang assemblyman.
In his ceramah (talk), Nizar claimed he was informed that Datuk Seri Najib Razak had called the armed forces chiefs for a meeting and asked them whether they could do something if BN loses in the coming elections.
The claim was, however, refuted by the Malaysian Armed Forces.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahalan said the investigation papers on the case would be sent to the deputy public prosecutor for further action. — Bernama
